At The Sherwood Group, we believe in the power of community and sustainability. That’s why we’re thrilled to share our recent involvement in a great recycling project with our local school, The Fernwood School in Nottingham.
We recently donated a batch of unwanted wooden pallets to the talented students at The Fernwood School in Wollaton, Nottingham. They’ve transformed the pallets into raised garden beds where students will be planting various vegetables and nurturing them from seed to harvest. Not only does this project promote sustainability and recycling, but it also offers students opportunity to learn valuable life skills along the way.
Recently, Richard Bacon, Managing Director of The Sherwood Group, had the pleasure of visiting The Fernwood School, a place close to his heart, as Richard, his brother Jeremy, and sister Sarah are proud alumni of the school.
But that’s not all! The Sherwood Group is continuing our support for this fantastic initiative. In addition to more pallets, we’ll also be donating fruit trees and an oak tree to enhance the school’s green surroundings even further. Moreover, in November 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting representatives from the school—Kieron Fisher, the visionary leader of the project, and his colleague, Jennifer Cox, Head of Design and Technology.
The meeting was a great opportunity to discuss how The Group can further support The Fernwood School’s sustainability initiatives and the students by providing work experience in 2024. This initiative aims to provide students with valuable insights into the world of packaging design and manufacturing, sustainability, and professional development.
The collaboration with The Fernwood School goes beyond just recycling—it’s about nurturing the future generation, fostering creativity, and building lasting connections within our community.
